Ever since I won 200,000 miles, I've had a burgeoning fascination with aviation and air travel, particularly premium travel, as the Platinum membership that came with my prize allows me lounge access in airports around the world. Even though I still always fly Economy, I now often get a taste of the perks of Business Class, and I am developing an unhealthy obsession with upgraded air travel experiences while I can have them.
So it was a dream come true when I recently had a chance to have one of the most famed premium travel experiences in the world: Flying Emirates Business Class long haul, first on their Boeing 777-300ER from Manila to Dubai, and then on their renowned Airbus A380 from Dubai to Amsterdam! And yes, it was absolutely worth all the hype, a flight experience with absolutely nothing to do with our everyday Economy class experience. Hanging out at a bar on the plane? Unbelievable and amazing --- and ridiculously, amusingly excessive.
It was like starting a vacation from the minute you checked in at the airport instead of having to put up with the vagaries of long haul air travel, complete with complimentary chauffeur pickup in a luxury car from and back to the airport. My idea of what flying could be will never be the same.
Check out the videos in two parts above! I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford flying like this again, but to be honest, it's good to not get used to it, because it's ruined flying for me forever, knowing what a sheer pleasure flying can be compared to the now seemingly ridiculous, livestock-like experience flying coach. And another awesome sidelight: seeing the same first class seats made famous by Casey Neistat in his viral "$21,000 FIRST CLASS AIRPLANE SEAT" video, which you'll spot early in the A380 video (part 2).
This will be the first of what may now become a series of vlogs of unique and premium travel experiences that I've been having and just want to be able to share with everyone. Looking forward to sharing more soon!
